Measuring your dog for the correct size of clothing or harnesses.

Clothing FAQ's

Measurements Needed:

Neck: Measure around the base of the neck where the collar usually sits.

Chest (Girth): Measure the widest part of the chest, typically right behind the front legs.

Length: Measure from the base of the neck (where the collar sits) to the base of the tail.

Steps to Measure:

Neck: Place the measuring tape around the neck where the collar would naturally rest. Ensure it’s not too tight or too loose.

Chest (Girth): Wrap the tape around the chest just behind the front legs. Make sure it’s snug but not constricting.

Length: Start the measurement at the base of the neck and run the tape along the dog’s back to the base of the tail. This helps in determining the length of the garment or harness needed.

Additional Considerations:

If your dog has a particularly deep chest or is very muscular, you might need to account for these proportions when choosing a harness or clothing.

For clothing, also consider leg openings and any particular breed-specific considerations (like broad shoulders for some breeds).

Recording and Using Measurements:

Write down each measurement (neck, chest, length) in inches or centimetres. Compare these measurements to the sizing charts provided by the manufacturer of the clothing or harness you’re interested in purchasing. Sizes can vary between brands, so always check the specific measurements for each product.
